What are your rates and hours?
Check out Our Services page for starting costs. We have 6, 8 and 10 hour packages with add on options (Additional hour, Super 8 film and more). Fill out and submit the Inquiry form online, and we will send you detailed package descriptions and price sheets.
Who photographs our wedding?
Emma and Sophia are the owners of Studio Z (and sisters!). One of us, or both, will be photographing your wedding day. We work with amazing second photographers/videographers to assist on wedding days when we both can’t be there. We do not double book dates - we like to give our full attention to your wedding day. With our amazing second photographers, who are also lead photographers for their personal business, we have them as our lead photographer backups if there is an emergency. The editing is completed by Emma and Sophia to keep the style cohesive. We are not a large photo company sending out random associate photographers to your wedding day. We are a small business run by two sisters who love to work together and capture your happy memories!
How long until we receive our Wedding Gallery? Do we get a preview gallery?
Wedding galleries are delivered in full 8-10 weeks after your event. If you have a Super 8 film, we wait until we have that final video complete to send you the gallery. We do send a preview gallery (sneak peek) within 1 week of your wedding! This preview gallery isn’t just a sneak peek, it is a curated and retouched mix of images from every aspect of the day (Getting ready, first look, ceremony, portraits, reception and all of your family group photos).
Our venue has no natural light, is that a problem?
Not at all! We are trained to be able to photograph in any type of space. We work with different types of on camera and off camera flash as well as spotlights we set up for dances and speeches. A room with no natural light can be a very romantic setting for photos! We always suggest to add candlelight to your tables or cafe lights to add a warm glow to your wedding day.
What happens if it rains and we have outdoor photo locations planned?
Trust us when we say we are watching the weather as closely as you are! We understand the stress of uncontrollable weather on your wedding day. Rest assured if we notice the weather might turn, we can help with backup plans. If we catch it early, we can plan for indoor locations before the wedding day! If it happens the day of, we are very skilled at finding new spots quickly.
How long until we receive our finished Super 8 Movie?
8-10 weeks is the norm, but it could take a little longer. Working with film requires a bit more time and love. After we shoot it, it has to be processed, then digitized for editing and post-production, where we add titles and music and our own special magic.
How many edited photos do we receive?
Photography is roughly 50-80 retouched images per hour. We curate your final gallery, taking time and care to select the best images.
Can we view full wedding galleries from Studio Z?
Absolutely! We have links to full galleries in our rates and details that we send after your initial inquiry! After you submit the form on our site, we will send you an email with information, our full wedding prices as well as links to full galleries and add on options.
How long will the Super 8 finished movie be, and how will I be able to view it?
Each reel represents roughly 3 minutes of footage. After editing, you can expect your finished Super 8 Movie to run somewhere between 2-5 minutes (depending on the length of your event). Our super 8 films are highlight films of the day. All the biggest and sweetest moments collected on one video.
Do you offer digital video?
One of our add on options is a Digital Diary or a Hybrid Video (mix of digital and super 8 film). Our Digital Diary is captured within the same style as our super 8, very documentary with the sweetest moments of your day. We like to capture real moments instead of setting up the perfect shot.
How do we get our files?
We will have an online gallery from which you will download your files. The gallery will be live for 1 year, and we suggest to download the full gallery to an external hard drive within 3 months.
What is your style?
Documentary and candid photography with a mix of soft editorial (we love to help you set up, pose and feel natural in front of the camera). We prefer prompts over poses - having you move and interact vs standing still and looking at the camera.
Do you shoot Destination Weddings/Elopements/Engagements?
Yes! We love to travel and meet new people. Our wedding packages are the same with the added travel fees.
How do I book you?
To reserve your date, you will need to complete our Inquiry form online - Once we figure out all the details, we send a contract, and you send a 25% retainer of the total. This is a non-refundable deposit to secure your date. Once the contract is signed, we can plan your complimentary engagement session! We are available whenever you need us. We are happy to schedule phone calls, video chats and answer all of your questions via email. Any questions you have, please do not hesitate to reach out!
Can we hold a date while we make our decision?
Yes, we have a 1 week hold after the first phone call to give you time to decide. After 7 days, the date is open to anyone else interested.
Do you have a backup plan?
Working with film is wonderful, but it requires some extra planning, and there are some additional risk. We have extra cameras and reels of film with us at all events. Our digital files are being captured on 2 cards and then backed up on external hard drives. We also have back up photographers and super 8 videographers so your day will be well documented no matter what!
